What Is Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)?
TPMS is an electronic system that monitors the air pressure in your tyres and alerts you if any tyre is significantly under-inflated. It became mandatory on all new cars from 2014. A faulty sensor can trigger a constant warning light, fail an MOT, or leave you unaware of a genuine pressure problem.
When Do You Need This?
- Your TPMS warning light stays on even after checking pressures
- The light flashes — indicating a sensor fault
- You've had new tyres fitted and the sensor needs reprogramming
- A sensor has been damaged during tyre fitting or by a pothole
